2. Types of cookies we use

On our website we may use the following types of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies. These are cookies that are required for the operation of our website. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our website, use a shopping cart or make use of e-billing services.
  • Analytical or performance cookies. These allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily.
  • Functionality cookies. These are used to recognise you when you return to our website. This enables us to personalise our content for you, greet you by name and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region).
  • Targeting cookies. These cookies record your visit to our website, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. We will use this information to make our website and the advertising displayed on it more relevant to your interests.

For non-essential cookies that enable an analysis of your behaviour, we obtain your consent when you visit our website, in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.

Some functions of our website cannot be utilised by you without the acceptance of strictly necessary and functionality cookies. For example, for the registration process to work, log-in information must be recognised even after a page change. For these purposes, we have a legitimate interest in the processing of any personal data provided, pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.

The analytic and marketing tools identified below are used to improve the quality of our website and its content. Through the analysis and marketing cookies we learn how the website is used and can thus continuously optimise our offer.

Cookies are generally stored on your device and transmitted to our site by you. Therefore, you as a user also have full control over the use of cookies. You can deactivate or restrict the transmission of cookies by changing the settings in your Internet browser. Cookies that have already been saved can be deleted at any time. This can also be done automatically via your browser settings.

3. Third party links

Our website may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins and applications. Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may take you out of our website to an external website and allow third parties to install cookies and collect or share data about you. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their cookies or privacy statements. When you leave our website, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit.

4. Use of temporary session cookies

These cookies are temporarily stored on your computer and only sent to our servers when you visit our website. We use “session cookies” that are not stored on your hard drive and are deleted when the browser is closed or after a long period of inactivity. They do not damage your computer and contain no viruses. Through our temporary cookies we temporarily store your session ID (session number), which is automatically generated by the server at the beginning of your visit to our website, for the aforementioned purposes. These cookies are necessary for you to utilise aspects of our website.

The following data is stored in the cookies:

  • Language setting
  • Log-in information

You can view and delete cookies stored on your computer and check handling of cookies in general via your internet browser’s settings. 5. Use of Analytical cookies

We also use cookies on our website that enable an anonymous analysis of the surfing behaviour of our website users.

Any of the following types of cookie may be a persistent cookie. Persistent Cookies are those which remain on your computer or device for a predetermined period and are activated each time you visit Our Site.

When you visit our website, we ask you to consent to the use of such cookies. If you give your consent, the following processing takes place:

6. Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager is a solution that allows marketers to manage website tags through a single interface. The Google Tag Manager itself (which implements the tags) is a cookie-free domain, does not collect any personal data and triggers other tags that may collect data. Google Tag Manager does not access this data. If deactivated at the domain or cookie level, it will remain in effect for all tracking tags implemented with Google Tag Manager. For more information, see the Google Tag Manager usage guidelines at: http://www.google.de/tagmanager/use-policy.html.

7. Website Analysis

7. a. Use of Google Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies, which are stored on your computer and allows an analysis of the use of our offer by Google. The information on the use of our website (including your IP address) collected by the cookie is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, in case of activation of the IP anonymity on this website, your IP address will be abbreviated by Google within the member states of the European Union or in other Contracting States of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. IP anonymity is active on this website.

On our behalf, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity, and to provide other services related to the website’s use and the internet for the Site Operator. The IP address provided by Google Analytics from your browser will not be merged with other Google data. By using this website, you agree to the processing of data collected by you through Google and the above-described manner of data processing as well as the stated purpose.

You can prevent storage of cookies by a corresponding setting in your browser software; however, we point out that in this case you may not be able to fully utilise all of our website’s functions.

The data collected within the framework of Google Analytics is automatically deleted after 14 months. The deletion of data whose retention period has been reached is carried out automatically once a month by means of a corresponding setting on Google.

Google also offers a deactivation add-on for the most popular browsers, giving you more control over what information Google collects about the websites you visit. The add-on informs Google Analytics’ JavaScript (ga.js) that no information about the website visit should be transmitted to Google Analytics. However, the deactivation add-on for browsers from Google Analytics does not prevent information from being transmitted to us or to other web analytics services that we may use. For more information on installing the browser add-on, click on the link below: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

You can also prevent Google’s collection within this site by setting an opt-out cookie. Please go to the following link. An opt-out cookie is stored on your device. If you delete your cookies, click on this link again.

For more information on usage conditions and data protection, please visit www.google.de/analytics/terms or www.google.de/policies.

7. b. Smartlook

The analysis tool of Smartlook, a service of Smartsupp.com,s.r.o., Milady Horakove 13, 602 00 Brno, Czech Republic, is also used. Smartlook uses the cloud-based solution of Amazon Web Services (AWS) with servers in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, for data storage and has corresponding contractual agreements for data security with AWS.

7. c. Pure Chat

This website uses technology from Pure Chat, Inc. 13835 N Northsight Blvd. Suite 205 Scottsdale AZ 85260, USA (www.purechat.com) to collect and store anonymous information for web analytics and to operate the live chat system to respond to live support requests. This anonymous data can be used to create user profiles under a pseudonym. The data collected with Pure Chat technologies will not be used to personally identify the visitor to this website and will not be combined with personal data about the bearer of the pseudonym.

8. Website Marketing

8. a. DoubleClick by Google

Our website also uses the online marketing tool DoubleClick by Google (“DoubleClick”). This is also an offer from Google. DoubleClick uses cookies to present ads relevant to you, improve campaign performance reports or to prevent you from seeing the same ads more than once. Your browser is assigned a pseudonymous identification number (ID) to check which ads have been displayed in your browser and which ads have been called up. DoubleClick can also use the ID to capture conversions related to ad requests. This is the case, for example, when you see a DoubleClick ad and later call up our website with the same browser and query something there. According to Google, the cookies do not contain any personal information.

The information generated by the cookies is transmitted by Google to a server in the USA for analysis and stored there. We have no influence on the extent and further use of the data collected by Google through the use of this tool and therefore inform you according to our level of knowledge: By integrating DoubleClick, Google receives the information that you have called the corresponding part of our website or clicked on an advertisement from us. If you are registered with a Google service, Google may associate your visit with your account. Even if you are not registered with Google or have not logged in, it is possible that the provider may find out and save your IP address.

You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of our website. You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookies and relating to your use of the website and from processing this data by Google by making the appropriate settings under the ad preferences manager https://adsettings.google.com/anonymous?hl=en. Alternatively, you can disable the use of cookies for interest-based advertising through the Advertising Network Initiative by following the instructions at http://optout.aboutads.info/.

8. b. Google Ads

We also use Google Conversion Tracking, another Google analysis service. Google AdWords sets a cookie on your computer (“conversion cookie”) if you have reached our website via a Google ad. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. They only serve to recognize that you have clicked on one of our ads and have been redirected to our website. Each AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies cannot therefore be traced through the websites of AdWords customers. The information collected using the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. AdWords customers see the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, you will not receive any information that personally identifies users.

We also use the remarketing function of Google AdWords. The purpose of this feature is to present interest-based ads to website visitors within the Google advertising network. The visitor’s browser stores a cookie that makes it possible to recognize the visitor when he or she visits websites that belong to Google’s advertising network. These pages may contain advertisements that refer to content that the visitor has previously viewed on sites that use Google’s remarketing feature. According to its own statements, Google does not collect any personal data in this process. If you still don’t want Google’s remarketing feature, you can disable it by making the appropriate settings in the Ads Preferences Manager https://adssettings.google.com/anonymous?hl=en above. Alternatively, you can disable the use of cookies for interest-based advertising through the Advertising Network Initiative by following the instructions at http://optout.aboutads.info/.

You can permanently object to cross-device remarketing/targeting by disabling personalized advertising in your Google Account; follow this link: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/. Further information and the data protection regulations can be found in Google’s data protection declaration at: http://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/.
