More than just 4 walls

A day in my life at Basecamp by Xior Katowice

I’ll usually start out by having breakfast in the common kitchen and eat by the window; there’s something zen about watching the world wake up. I’ll then head to the gym downstairs and workout so that’s out of the way early. Then I might need to drag myself to university (boo), or stay in Basecamp.
In the evening, I typically head to the study area with my laptop for a peaceful study session.
At night, I like to relax by the swings or hammock and, if there are no events going on, watch a movie in the small cinema room.
I’ve had the pleasure of organizing and partaking in a lot of Basecamp events, from peacefully painting plant pots to raging parties!

What you need to know

FAQs

What is the contract length?
Various options are available for you to choose from, but the minimum stay offered at Basecamp is a semester.
What documents do I need?
1. A copy of your passport (or local ID card for EU nationals)
2. A university acceptance letter or copy of the student card if you are already studying.
When can I move in?
You may move in at any time during office hours after your contract start date. If you plan to arrive outside of office hours, please obtain confirmation from the managers. Detailed arrival information will also be provided one month before your tenancy begins.
What do I have to bring?
You need to supply your bedding and towels, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. Our team can help you look for the best deals and offer advice on where to find everything you might need. You can buy a bed set through basecamp, contact the managers for more information.
What about noise?
All Basecampers are requested to be respectful of other Basecampers. Noise levels should be kept to a minimum during the hours posted at the property.
What is the process for moving out?
Before you leave you have to empty, tidy and clean your room and make an appointment for the room inspection. The local team will come to check your room for cleanliness and any damages. You need to return your key. The deposit will be returned after your tenancy has ended and the rental payments or any damages for which you are responsible have been fully paid.

Silesian Museum

To quickly get to know Katowice and its rich history, a quick trip to the Silesian Museum will tell you so much. Packed with education rooms, exhibitions and an auditorium, it’s the perfect spot to get to know the city we hope you’ll come to call home.

Valley of Three Ponds

If you’re a fan of wildlife, then you’ll love a visit to Valley of the Three Ponds. It’s a beautiful open space that is very popular with tourists and locals, who often make good use of the various camping grounds, tennis courts and restaurant that can be found here.

Legendia Silesian Amusement Park

Legendia is one of the oldest amusement parks in Poland and it’s still hugely popular to this day. With lots of fun rides dotted around the lake that sits in the middle of the park, Legendia is a fun day out for friends and family alike.

Nikiszowiec

Nestled just outside of Katowice sits a core piece of Polish history. This well-known district was initially built to house roughly 8,000 miners – today, many flock to wander around the beautiful brick buildings that have barely changed since they were constructed centuries ago.

Kościuszko Park

As one of the most popular parks in Katwowice, Kościuszko Park is a must-see on a bright and sunny day. Within its 72 acres, you’ll find wonderful features such as the wooden church of the Archangel Michael and the Parachute Tower with a very interesting local history.
