What is the contract length?

Basecamp contracts are open, unlimited contracts that run for the duration of your education or unless terminated by either party (a 3-months notice period must be observed).

What documents do I need?

1. A copy of your passport (or local ID card for EU nationals) and 2. A university acceptance letter or copy of the student card if you are already studying.

We are ready to welcome you on the first day of tenancy (if the contract date falls on a weekend or Publich holiday it will be the weekday after this) during our office hours. Additional information and keys will be handed out by the reception.

What do I have to bring?

You need to supply your bedding and towels, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. Our team can help you look for the best deals and offer advice on where to find everything you might need. You can buy a bed set through basecamp, contact the managers for more information.

All Basecampers are requested to be respectful of other Basecampers. Noise levels should be kept to a minimum during the hours posted at the property.

What is the process for moving out?

If you wish to terminate your tenancy we kindly ask you to perform this action in the student portal. Please note that the termination period is 3 whole calender months. Once we have received your termination notice, we will confirm the end date of your tenancy. You are required to cover the payment of your rent until the end of your tenancy. In the beginning of the move out month you will receive instructions on how to book a move out inspection as well as what state we require that you leave your apartment in. This inspection will be held together with you to check the condition of the apartment and its furniture. Both parties will sign a checkout form. Depending on the checkout form, the next steps may include repairs and refurbishment, or the return of the deposit at the end of the tenancy agreement.

I enjoyed living here. It’s quiet, peaceful, a nice neighborhood, and close to the sea. The rooms and common areas are clean. If you choose a room with a view, you’ll also get a beautiful view from the window. It’s a little inconvenient that you have to walk all the way to the end of the hallway to get to the kitchen, even though there was another kitchen and its entrance right next to my door, but I’m not allowed to go in there. Another thing that was strange to me was that almost no one says hi to you when you run into them in the elevator, on the stairs, or in the laundry room. It’s very strange for me, in Austria, we’re friendlier 😊

A fairly new building with decent amenities. It's a good place to start if you are a new student moving to Malmö for the first time. The lease was simple and the payment system is easy to manage.
It's a good location being close to stores, the university, and central station.
The cost is relatively high compared to other student housing, and the apartments are a little small. The room was decent as long as you kept it clean. Spiders gather on the windows during the warmer seasons, so keeping those clear can be a challenge.
Having to pay for laundry isn't great, especially with how often there seems to be problems with the machines (running out of detergent, error codes) and I stopped bothering with the dryers entirely (just get a drying rack).
There is a gym, a cinema room, a party room, and a large indoor bicycle storage area in the basement. The extra storage units for rent in the basement are also larger than I expected.
I personally didn't use the communal kitchen much. It has ovens, microwaves, full sized refrigerator and freezer, and a dishwasher.
The elevators seemed to be out of order more frequently than I would expect for a building of this age.
The staff are polite and helpful.

Overall: the apartments themselves are decent, if a little small and costly. The shared spaces are somewhat undersized for the number of residents. The amenities are present, though your expectations should be tempered by the knowledge that they must be shared by a larger group than is optimal.
Coming to Malmö for the first time this is a good place to start, especially if you intend to spend most of your time out of the apartment and you just want a simple place to stay. Furnished rooms with simple kitchenette, bathroom, desk. An easy place to live for part of your studies.

I lived in Basecamp for a few months and here are my notes.
+ The apartment/studio has everything you need in there.
+ The gym is well equipped
+ There is a study room
+ There is a 'party' room with a pingpong table, darts and more.
+ It is close to the Orkanen and Niagara building
+ You can get a key for a friend if they want to stay over.
+ You're 5 minutes from the beach and 1 min from a big supermarket
+ They host activities every month, though I've never been, they looked nice.
+ There is also a common kitchen and a sharing room.
- The cost of living (+7000 sek) is quite high.
- The laundry is something you have to pay extra for, no one else I know has to do that. Per time you'll be about 40 sek lichter and that is just a small load. Since the cost of living is already high this is quite annoying.
- The fridge is rather loud.
- The amount of natural light coming in is also minimal.
- There are stories of them being really strict and overcharging during the move out inspection. Though I can not yet confirm it myself, multiple people have confirmed this.

-> Currently, I would give this student accommodation a 4.5, unfortunate it is not possible to give half stars.

More than just 4 walls

A day in my life at Basecamp by Xior Malmö

My name is Alexandra and I’m a basebuddy at Malmö Basecamp! I’m a university student studying my bachelor’s degree in international relations and I am from Greece, but have lived in Stockholm for 13 years.

My schedule is quite busy everyday as I try to study a lot, eat healthily, socialise, exercise and have time for my extracurricular activities. Luckily I have everything that I need very close by – the gym, my friends and classmates living in the same building, being able to walk to my classes, and it has made my everyday life much easier.

Comfortable spaces to catch up and study
BaseManagers and Basebuddies to look after you
Great local nightlife and activities
Social and breakout spaces to meet friends
Packed social calendar to keep you busy
Meet friends for life from all over the world
